Dr. Dean Levy

Dr. Levy is an accomplished provider who is passionate about taking the time to get to know his patients so he can deliver customized treatment plans to meet their unique oral healthcare needs. But he didn’t always want to become a dentist. At an early age, he decided he wanted to pursue a career in the medical field.

Dr. Levy therefore began his education at Villanova University, where he graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree. During this time, he met his roommate’s father, who was a dentist, and he was inspired to shadow him and others with active dental careers. Although Dr. Levy went on to work as a Special Education teacher in Newton Public Schools, he began to dream of becoming a dentist.

Dr. Levy eventually decided to pursue his passion and earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the Boston University School of Dental Medicine, and graduated magna cum laude. During his first year there, he met Dr. Christa Rizkallah, now his beloved wife.

Since that time, Dr. Levy has remained committed to continuing education and has become a certified Invisalign provider. He also actively participates with the American Dental Association, the Massachusetts Dental Society, and a Spear Education Study Club to stay current with the most recent upgrades to technology, materials, and techniques, so his patients can trust that they’re receiving the most up-to-date options.

When he’s not in the office helping people build beautiful, healthy teeth and gums, he can often be found with his family or spending downtime caring for his saltwater reef aquarium.

Dr. Christa Rizkallah

Dr. Rizkallah’s favorite part of her job is getting to know people’s unique concerns or smile goals, then providing customized treatment plans to help solve their problems or enhance their appearance.

Unlike her husband, Dr. Levy, Dr. Rizkallah has known since she was 16 years old that she wanted to become a dentist. Her uncle worked in the field, so she began working at his office during the summers as a teenager. She decided to study biology at Merrimack College, and continued working as a dental assistant at her uncle’s practice. After graduating magna cum laude, it was only natural for her to follow in her family’s footsteps and pursue a dental degree.

Dr. Rizkallah then attended Boston University, where she met Dr. Levy, and the two decided to pursue their shared passion and open an office together. Today, they collaborate to offer a comprehensive menu using state-of-the-art technology to meet their patients’ unique needs conveniently under one roof.

But Dr. Rizkallah didn’t stop there. She also remains committed to ongoing educational opportunities and is certified in Invisalign and trained to administer Botox and dermal fillers. She also is a member of the American Dental Association, the Massachusetts Dental Society, and a Spear Study Club.

Because she came from a large, tightly-knit family herself, Dr. Rizkallah’s family are her pride and joy. The majority of her free time is spent caring for or visiting her loved ones, indulging in artistic activities, and traveling.

Dr. Christine Melito

Dr. Melito joins the practice with more than 20 years of expert experience as an endodontist, and looks forward to meeting you to help take care of more complex oral concerns. Prior to pursuing her dental education, Dr. Melito earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Cardiopulmonary Science from Northeastern University. She then practiced as a respiratory therapist at Tufts Medical Center and Children’s Hospital for 3 years, then decided to shift her career path.

In 2004, Dr. Melito achieved her Doctorate of Dental Medicine from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, graduating summa cum laude. During her time there, she was elected into the XI-XI Chapter of Omicron Kappa Upsilon, a National Dental Honor Society. As if that weren’t impressive enough, Dr. Melito also earned a Master of Science in Dentistry and her Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study in Endodontics from the Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine.

Today, Dr. Melito continues to strive towards excellence, and participates with several prestigious organizations, including the American Dental Association, the American Association of Endodontists, the East Middlesex District Dental Society, and the North Shore District Dental Society, to stay abreast of the latest treatment options. She has also lent her expertise to 2 published papers on Advanced Glycation End Product-induced apoptosis in osteoblasts and fibroblasts.

In her spare time, Dr. Melito enjoys spending time with her husband and their 2 children, pursuing her hobby of photography, or running and training for marathons.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get emergency dental care?

If you suspect that something is wrong because you’re dealing with considerable dental sensitivity, a dull, persistent ache, or a sharp, stabbing pain when you bite down, then don’t wait – call our dental office near North End right away. The sooner you do, the sooner we can learn more about your symptoms, assess the urgency of the situation, and, if needed, schedule a same-day appointment. What level of education is required to be a dentist?

First, the aspiring dentist must earn their undergraduate degree and be accepted to an accredited dental school in the US. Then, they must undergo 3+ years of in-classroom and hands-on training to obtain their Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) or Doctor of Dental Sciences (DDS) degree. To maintain their license, they must also complete continuing education hours annually.

Of course, some dentists go beyond the minimum of what is required. Dr. Christa Rizkallah, for example, graduated magna cum laude from the Boston University School of Dental Medicine. In the years since, she has maintained active memberships with several professional organizations, including the American Dental Association and the Massachusetts Dental Society. She is also a certified Invisalign provider and is trained to administer BOTOX®!

How much does a dental checkup and cleaning cost?

There are a few factors that impact the answer, including whether or not you have dental insurance. After all, if you are insured, there’s a good chance that your provider will cover 100% of the cost, resulting in you not having to pay anything out-of-pocket. That’s why we always recommend discussing any questions or concerns you have about the cost with our dental team near North End!
